Early Childhood Education Centre
In the beginning, our goal was to improve primary School education by providing text books. After several years, we found that the results have not improved. So our focus has now shifted to creating Early Childhood Education Centres which will provide three (3) years of foundation learning that will not only prepare young children for primary school curriculum, but also instill in them positive attitudes towards learning.
Below are pictures of our first pilot project. The structure consists of 4 rooms of which 3 will be classrooms and one the Head Teacher’s office. The construction of the 1st Early Childhood Education Center is in Kidera village, Rubongi Subcounty. It is a collaboration between community and JWII. The community of Kidera donated land, built the foundation, and walls of a 4-room school block. JWII provided funds for roofing materials and labour.
The next construction work will be bathrooms (toilets) and a kitchen and dining area. The Early Childhood Education Center in Kidera village was expected to open in January 2021 but due to Covid-19 restrictions this has not been possible. The targeted opening date is now January 2022. The expected intake is 120 pupils, comprising 3, 4, and 5-year old children. The date will be determined based on when
most primary schools open in Uganda. JWII’s long-term vision is to have numerous Early Childhood Education centers dotted all over Padhola.
We welcome and are appreciative of all donations towards this project. Your donations will “Improve lives through improved education”.
